Don't allow yourself to think about anything: problems, plans, etc. Drink warm milk before hand, and take warm bath with lavender.
Good luck! How to clear your mind so you can sleep?
the bet thing in have foun that really works my grandmother past on to me.
1) make sure that your heart beat i staedy and your not moving or tossing%26amp;turning.
2) imagine a plae that you find REALLY relaxing ~ i always think of me laying in my lounge chair with a good book in the pool ~ and concentrate on Every little detail. jut imagine your there. listen to all the sounds. feel th weather. BE there.
3) if you havnt falln asleep after about five minutes of doing this count backwards from 100 ~ 100,99,98,97,96 Etc.
4) if this still fails go back to your realxed place.
my dad has been doing this since he was a child and now he does it subconsciencly so he is asleep in a minute.
although now that he oes i subconsciencly he oesnt remembr all the seps so there is probably more.
You can buy a relaxation CD or cassette such as ';Relaxation Medley'; which is from the Midwest Center for stress and anxiety. This is the one I have and it soothes you into relaxing you body and mind. Their Ph# is 800-944-9460. When I pray I fall asleep too. Makes me feel bad but I guess it makes me focus so my mind is not rambling. Good luck!
When you go to bed think about relaxing your body. Start with your feet, concentrate upon really relaxing them. Move up your body with your relaxation concentration. After your feet, relax your legs and on up until your entire body is very relaxed. If you make yourself to think only about relaxing your body you should be ready to fall asleep. It's worth a try. If your mind wanders to other things force yourself back to relaxing.
try writing down everything that is running through your head on a notepad right before you lay down for bed.
actually, i think that clearing your mind hasn;t been helpful to me, ever. instead, do the exact opposite. think about everything that's floating around in your head. by the time you fall asleep, you'll probably be so mentally exhausted that you'll have less on your mind the next night.
A Buddhist technique that may help is to imagine your unsettled mind as a body of water, all choppy with waves. Once you have that image, concentrate on making the water calm. Work slowly so you can maintain your focus, gradually making the waves smaller and smaller til the surface is as smooth as glass.
This technique does take a little practice, but once you get the hang of it you should be able to calm your mind in moments and drift off to sleep.
i used to have this problem, badly, a little over a year ago.
what i did was journal and i asked questions that were on my mind, and i still do that.
i rarely have that problem anymore.
good luck!
Ready a boring book or do deep breathing exercises
Practice repeating a chant or positive message in your mind along with deep breathing. It pushes all the other 'noise' out of the way and relaxes mind and body.
I've found that the best thing to do is imagine that I'm in the countryside, somewhere really beautiful like in the mountains. I picture all the things around me, imagine the sound of the wind in the trees, the birds chirping every now and then and imagine that I'm walking very slowly and breathing in all the fresh air. I drift off before I get round the next corner!
Sometimes I just try to clear my mind and just think sleep, sleep. Also, masturbating before I go to sleep sometimes makes me sleepy.
