  • Can you totally clear your mind? How do you do it?

I can clear my mind for a few seconds and then I start laughing, or crying, or thinking of things how about you?

What's the longest you can go with a clear mind? Can you totally clear your mind? How do you do it?
I read in an article that the key to relaxation is meditation, but you need to completely clear your mind for 30 minutes in order to meditate correctly. (I don't know how true that is.) Ever since I read it, I'll occasionally try to do so... I can't make it more than a minute or two at a time. My brain is too active, and there's too many distractions, or I start falling asleep. I don't think it would work even if I locked myself in an empty, soundproof room! Can you totally clear your mind? How do you do it?
Other than going to sleep not very long.

The slightest sound or sensation gets your mind going again.

What can i do to help clear my mind when dealing with a girlfriend situation in a wiccan fashion?

My girlfriend and I got seperated, by about 2000 miles. It's a long story, but i'll just say that we're seperated right now. I am trying to get back to her, but I have alot of roadblocks that i have to overcome. We're both wiccan, and i want to cast some sort of spell that will help clear my mind and help me on my path to get back to her. I miss her so much, and I can't seem to stop dwelling on the bad thoughts instead of focusing on what the good is and what I need to do to get to her. Anybody able to give some ideas? What can i do to help clear my mind when dealing with a girlfriend situation in a wiccan fashion?
meditating is all ways good to clear the mind I found the website www.everythingunderthemoon.net its great but I don't know if it will help you

I agree with Squishy; go to the airport, buy yourself a ticket, and just hop on a plane. Problem solved!
Cars tend to work wonders for this thing called traveling. So do planes, and trains, and buses.

Can you clear you mind of all thought and contemplate the existence of nothing?

    ...no...

...shes always on my mind...Can you clear you mind of all thought and contemplate the existence of nothing?
If you're contemplating the existence of nothing, then your mind isn't clear of all thought :p

If you mean, is it possible to enter a state of meditative silence, undisturbed by thoughts or the outside world, then yes, it is.

If you are wondering what 'nothing' might refer to, then it all depends on your frame of reference, but I would suggest reading a book on Jean Paul Sartre's ontology. He says that 'nothingness' is a rational concept that makes it possible to pick out where one object ends and another begins (that is, it makes it possible for there to be objects at all) but it only exists in the mind. Can you clear you mind of all thought and contemplate the existence of nothing?
Though very hard to do i have tried to look at the existence of nothing and it always leaves me confused and dumbfounded, you cannot contemplate nothing because then you wouldnt be thinking at all, also because you have never experienced nothing and therefor are inable to contemplate its existence.

Try to think about what your mind was doing before you were concieved, i bet you cant do it. But its okay, neither can I.
    It's like a paradigm.

You have to not think about anything to be nothing. When you look for it becomes something.
Supposedly, if you meditated properly, you would cease to exist temporarily.
    yes

Can you clear you mind of all thought and contemplate the existence of nothing?

yes I did it I had so much stress in my life an all affected my health especially my heartCan you clear you mind of all thought and contemplate the existence of nothing?
I wish I could. I have problems controlling my thoughts. There again, you have to have TIME to be able to discipline your mind to that level and between work, husband, kids, housework and all...yeah yeah, I know, that's nothing but an excuse. Can you clear you mind of all thought and contemplate the existence of nothing?
Isn't that a semantic contradiction and impossibility? I mean you can't contemplate without thought. It's like wanting to want nothing...
Nah....that would be kinda pointless. I've been there and done that. I know it's nothing, but let's try and enjoy the nothingness while it's here.
Sometimes, yeah. Sometimes, it's too hard.
That always happens when midterms or finals roll around. It's kind of easy to do, I think I've mastered it. It hits once notes/books are open in front of me.
I would love to be in that state of mind for a day or 2
    One word

    BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    yes

    except when i am depressed

    =
    |Maybe on LSD.
nope, I have too much going on
    isn't that called nullibiety?

    i love that word :3
    only in my sleep
    yep, it's called sleep
nope, when i'm dead. maybe then.

Why can't I clear my mind at night when I am trying to go to bed??

I wake up during the middle of the night and try to fall right back asleep, but my mind just keeps racing with different thoughts. I don't have a good sleep unless I take Bendryl or Nyquil. Do I need to talk to a doctor about taking a sleep aid?Why can't I clear my mind at night when I am trying to go to bed??
just close your eyes eventually you'll fall a sleep Why can't I clear my mind at night when I am trying to go to bed??
Try to stop yourself from taking Benadryl or Nyquil because I feel that it makes it harder to fall asleep once your body is used to those kinds of meds and you stop using them. I have been having the same type of trouble and my doc prescribed something to help me sleep. I do not take it every night though because, like I mentioned, it makes it harder for me to fall asleep once I don't take the meds.

Make sure to have no caffeine or sweets before a certain time because that can interfer with your ability to sleep. Instead of tossing and turning try to pick up a book and read, sometimes that helps me. Good luck!

I'm not sure about the middle of the night, but when you go to bed you're slowing down and your mind starts to work even more, now that you have nothing to think about. You could try meditation or I always listen to music before I go to bed. It can be soothing music or I just listen to 98PXY and they play songs that are NOT soothing.

but you could always talk to your doctor.
I'm not sure how old you are, but it is a known fact that as we age we sleep less. Another thing that I think may be going on is that you have what's called a busy mind, always thinking about issues that are interrupting your sleep cycle. Have you ever tried melatonin? It's a natrual vitamin that has helped me sleep when I was having problems, also you can find it in target or wallgreens, etc. I wish you the best!
Do you watch tv before you sleep? If so, try to keep the tv watching to a minimum because it can affect the way you get to bed. Sometimes just meditating can help clear your mind, or even try reading a ';boring'; book. Another good way to clear your mind is to write your thoughts down before you go to bed. If none of these ideas work, then try talking to your doctor. Good Luck and hope this helps!
Well not being able to fall to sleep is because when ur lying down with nothing else to distract u every other thing comes into ur head its natural, but try meditation cds and calming fragrances or a nice aromaherapy bath
you are addicted to sleep meds.

why don't you watch tv until you get tired.
You may be lacking an adequate supply of whiskey in your diet.

How do you clear your mind, I am always thinking?

My mind does not stop, I have thoughts all day and just need to relax, any idea on how to stop thinking and just enjoy lifeHow do you clear your mind, I am always thinking?
everyone is always thinking..but if you really want to relax, pray or do YOGAHow do you clear your mind, I am always thinking?
well you need to have something in mind for you to get up and work through the day, but if you're not working, just don't think anything... I can't explain how not to think about anything, but it helps if you have some sort of soothing music and you really pay attention to the sound.
take a deep breath and focus on the world around you. learning basic meditation really helps, even if it's only like 5 minutes a day. you get a better grasp on how to shut up your mind.
    Long Runs, always does the trick for me. Or listening to music/reading something to take your mind off of ';thinking';

    Good Luck
    Try paxil.

  • How to clear my mind?

I am asking because even trying to go to sleep, I cannot because I have all of these thoughts running through my head. In a magazine it said to start a journal before you go to bed, but that doesn't work with me. It's not really even thoughts, just pictures and clutter drifting across my mind. How do I clear my mind? It would help for meditating too, you are supposed to clear your mind and concentrate on your breathing, but I just can't seem to focus on one thing! Help please! How to clear my mind?
ok this is an awesome method to get perfect sleep....dont just normally breath but breath hard.....specially wen breathing out...and needless to say concentrate on it.....breath in...breath out with force.....and wake up early!!!!!How to clear my mind?
I have struggled with this all of my life - I basically imagine that I am on some sort of transport, my favourite at the minute is a train! I am standing on the front of this old-style western train, looking over the edge as the tracks go past. I just basically enjoy the ride, I either watch the tracks or the scenery and just see where it takes me!

You'll end up somewhere stupid and your train of thought will take you from there into your dreams.

For example, you could end up driving into a jungle, which might lead u to look at a tree, then all of a sudden you're a monkey leaping from the branches!

It sounds ridiculous but its the only thing that has very worked for me, and i think its formed from the same idea as counting sheep - watching the tracks gives me something to focus on and relaxes my mind. Then the dreams take over and you're asleep!
I have allways had this problem. The way I get to sleep is by translating my thoughts into dreams. Then pretend I am dreaming and eventually I do fall asleep and it continues
take a long hot bath and relax
dats eazy.... a can of special brew will help ..nt more than dat

How to clear my mind? Any tips?

Well, I know a lot of sh!t but I've just been so stressed lately from having too much on my mind. Like I can't find a word when describing something, or I'll be in the middle of something and a random fact will pop into my head. Also things I want to remember I can't remember so easily.

I've been really apathetic too for a while haha, I don't know if that has to do with anything.

Any way you can help/ give me a tipHow to clear my mind? Any tips?
I was the exact way you were not too long ago and i spent a day with my best friend and talked about everything that was in my head. i think that you should definitely talk to a friend about everything that is in your head and you'll feel better and also, anyway you express yourself would help. for example, i like to write and that's what i did and i felt so much better. How to clear my mind? Any tips?
Don't laugh...but I clear my mind like this..

I close my eyes, and focus on filling my head with white. When I start to see it in my mind i focus on it, and force all other thoughts away from it until the white starts to get bigger. It puts all my thoughts somewhere else and makes me focus on the relaxing whiteness now in my head. When i feel like my head has been ';cleansed'; I open my eyes and continue on with my day. Hope at least some of that made sense...
first things first, if most of your thoughts are about drama. FORGET ABOUT IT! drama is dumb. Get out of it by not caring. it works...:) and the random facts...keep your thoughts straight... learn how to concentrate to make yourself a better person. it will help you become organized and a better person:)
Do exercise and take a vacation or you can always say whatever comes to mind.
    Whippets usually work for me!
smoke some marijuana. that always helps me clear my head!

How do I clear my mind?

There's a lot of stuff going on in my head right now and I want to deal with it later because I have stuff that I have to get done right now. How do I clear my mind just so I can get this stuff done? How do I clear my mind?
Like meOmy said, Meditaion. Studies have shown it to increase calmness, awareness, intelligence (yes, there is a thickening of the neo cortex and increased neuroplasticity), and concentration. The simplest form of meditation is to sit comfortably and quietly somewhere, eyes closed, and concentrate only on breathing; the feel of it. If your mind starts to wander or follow a thougt, the moment you notice it, shift your attention back to your breathing. Do this for at least 5 min a day. When you are comfortable with this, add 5 min each week until you are up to 45 min. You can also meditate on other things, like work or projects, it's simply a practice of clear headed concentration. It will work. How do I clear my mind?
Why on earth would you want to clear your mind ? Dont you really want to be able to cope better with what you are going through and in turn live a more productive life. I believe thats what most people want, because honestly and I am sorry if this hurts you, but to clear ones mind is just to want to escape from everything. And to escape everything is not going to solve your problems. There was this supposed funny little saying that went something like this: I got problems ,so i drink, get drunk, and fall over and their all gone, and in the morning when I get up they are back again, so I do it all over again ! Now Im not saying this is you, but the point is what you want is just an escape. And I believe that what you need and or want and dont even realize it is God !
you have to prioritise... and put all others to the back whilst you sort out the main proirity...and then as each thing is sorted put the next one up to priority and so on ...youll get there might take a bit longer but...you'll keep your sanity...
MEDITATION... try it...seriously , you cant believe it till you have tryed it!
smooth music, aroma candles (lavender, vanilla) the color blue. For music, mostly nature sounds or classical
my solution is to close my eyes and listen to my heartbeat.
well the first soultion is prayer and meditation secound you might wanna take some time relax maybe watch a comedy it seems you might be stressed out also you might wanna try a naturel drug you can find in your vitamine section at your local wal-mart store this is actually an amino acid you resotre your searatonin levels in your brain if your are unable to concentrate that will help you focus better and last of all try getting plenty of excersice if your are not already doing that getting eat health meals like lots of fruits and vegatables and get atleats nine hours of sleep at night also hard physical labor is good for you like lawn mowing is good for you that is really all i have left well the best of luck of you take care and God bless
Get a tablet and pen and write down what you are thinking about. make a list...like a shopping list. get it out of your mind and onto paper. then you won't forget what you wanted to deal with. Then take a few minutes to pray to God and ask Him to give you wisdom and peace of mind.
I know excatly what you mean. I feel like I do battle with my brain so much of the time - just to ';quieten'; it down...
fasting. just coffee or tea in the AM if you usually do have it, and lots of water. you can think clearer, get more accomplished, and everything seems brighter %26amp; calmer. one day should do it.
Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Watch it flow in and out. If you can't clear your thoughts doing this, think ';om'; (like the word home without the h sound).

Alternately, make a list of the other things that you need to take care of so you don't have to keep the mental list going. Focus on the task at hand, knowing the list will be there for the next adventure.

A meditation to clear the mind of all thoughts?

I think too much and need a method of clearing the mind of all thoughts.

I have tried meditation before bt it makes it worse, my mind goes into overdrive and I am soon filled with even more qestions and revelations, when I come out I can't stop thinking and questioning everything I see.

Am I doing something wrong? or is there a method that quieting the mind completely?

Thank youA meditation to clear the mind of all thoughts?
The others are completely correct in saying that one just needs to develop a routine meditation practice. The mind that is in overdrive is what buddhists call monkey mind, it bounces all over the place. When one notices this state of mind, it is helpful to concentrate on the breath. By training the mind to become a ';breathing mind';, one will become more still and tranquil.

Hope this helps.A meditation to clear the mind of all thoughts?
You are probably trying to hard to clear your mind of thoughts. I had the same problem. Meditation takes practice. First, sit or lay in a position that is relaxing for you. Focus on your breathing and slowly breathe in through your nose and out your mouth while relaxing. Acknowledge your thoughts that come to mind while meditating but let them pass by without concentrating on them. Meditative music that is relaxing may also help.

There are many ways to meditate, but they all take a little practice. Just try different ones out and see which one works best for you.
No you are not doing anything wrong...but it something that takes a lot of practice and time. Your mind is always chattering away constantly. It takes many sessions of meditation to quieten it down.

You could try a Vipassana Meditation course. It goes for ten days, its non religious and its free. They have centres all over the world now so there is probably one near you. Ten days may seem like a long time but its not really when you realise how long it takes for your mind to just shut up for a while. It is well worth investing your time in it if you really want to learn to meditate.
I'm not gonna tell you any tricks, turn off the lights light a candle or incense and sit up and breath evenly, thats all bull dooky. I'm an emotionally and mentally distrubed person and I've come up with my own method for solving problems just like yours. Let it come, let every thought come to you, this is hard at first cause it can be overbearing, but once you do this find a way to vent it, I myself have gotten to the point of being able to just meditate for a few minutes and push it aside. The problem with trying to clear your thoughts is, they will always be there unless you actually give them an escape.

P.S. Please don't burn someones house down or anything, make it something productive, try writing those thoughts could turn into poetry or books.
there is one form of meditation that i am aware of that helps you do just this, although it is pretty difficult and takes some practice. its called Transcendental Meditation, or TM for short. TM works by focusing on one sound, a repeated phrase called a mahantra, which is often nonsensical, and focusing so intently on that sound that nothing else exists. one mahantra that you could use is the word ';Ima';. it doesn't mean anything, its just a sound. repeat that word over and over again in your head and when another thought strays across your consciousness, don't try to crush it, rather, acknowledge it and let it pass from your thoughts, returning your attention to the mental sound of your mahantra.
What you are experiencing is very normal when first learning meditation. We become acutely aware of just how active and muddled and questioning our thought processes are.

Meditation is to focus on one thing only, and wear out the activity of the normal thought process.

If you use your breath as the object of focus, then begin by slowly counting as you draw each breath in. Continue this until you have slowly counted 10 inbreaths.

Then start from 1 again and repeat the process. Repeat this over and over.

You will find that, at first, you will lose track of your counting, or you will count beyond ten. That is okay. Each time you realise this, draw your mind back to the breathing and counting again.

In the end the thought process will become worn down and you will be able to focus on your breath without interruption.

The important part is that when a thought emerges, do not follow it. Nip it off in the bud and go back to refocusing on your breathing.

I hope this works for you.

It does take time to learn how to still the chatter of the mind, and everyone who has learned to meditate properly has been in this situation.

    Perseverance is the answer.
The point of meditation is not to clear your mind of all thoughts but to become aware of them and to not have attachment to them. To develop a useful meditation practice takes just that, practice. There is no magic fix. If there were what would be the point of practising medtiation.
Turn off all the lights and light ons single white candle then lay flat on the floor no pillow nothing look at the ceiling picture white light flowing out from your body and up through the ceiling and the take deep breaths close your eyes and visualize the white light surronding you and lifting you make sure your still taking deep breaths as when you feel your self become light release all your thoughts and negatives by seeing the lthe light penatrate you.
';emptying yourself'; by letting go of any thought that comes to mind. focus on what your eyes see with your eyes closed. focus on your breathing. once your mind starts to perceive anything %26amp; goes off into overdrive, stop yourself and let go of those thoughts. empty yourself.

    cheers,
It's virtually impossible to completely clear the mind the way you want. You should just accept your thoughts, let them come and let them go, don't dwell on them, just let them pass through.

If you try to push them away you are blocking yourself.

How do you clear your mind after being reminded of your bad past/horrible experiences?

I do not live in my past, but if reminded of anything bad, then it does not stay with me long, as to me it is in the past.It is the present and future that count. My past is like a movie, that happened to someone else. I am different today due to things from my past. I believe I am better today, and hopefully will continue to always be able to handle what comes up and move forward in life, and not backwards. I try to understand what happened and why another would do what they did etc. I have empathy for others and try to put myelf in their place to understand them. I do not have to agree with them, but helps to understand and move on.How do you clear your mind after being reminded of your bad past/horrible experiences?
I keep myself busy with everyday things. How do you clear your mind after being reminded of your bad past/horrible experiences?
After two tours in 'Nam I think about it all the time. Many things happen to remind me of some of the things that happen there. True, you don't feel as strong as you once did. Your not as angry. When they gave the Golden Globe award to Jane Fonda I lost it. I was Angry for days but, got over it, all the guys were E-mailing back and forth for days so, it's not just me.

Certain things happen that I have never discussed and won't, they happen and that's that. Time sometimes does heal or at least lessens the impact. My wife doesn't ever ask what happen or what I did, she knows.
First, it depends how horrible the experiences we're talking about are. If they are truly traumatic, such as rape, incest, child abuse, war trauma - you may be having post traumatic stress flashbacks and should seek help from a mental health agency as this is a recognized illness that is no fault of yours. If we're talking about painful experiences like terrible and messy breakups with sexual partners, etc, then getting yourself involved in things that interest you, for me it's meditation or yoga, for others it's sports...exercise is good for EVERYONE because it ';purges'; your system...is a good idea. Therapy could probably help either way and couldn't hurt.
    Exercise or meditation.

Have you tried visualisations? This one really works for me:

I stand at the edge of water, on the sand. I go through my 'mind', and look at each negative situation i have had durning the day. One by one, i study the situation, and then throw it out into the sea, where it disolves and gets rid of the situation from my mind, while i sleep. At the end, i cover myself with pure white light. (kinda like putting a big bubble around me.) This ALWAYS works for me. I normally fall asleep before i get through all of the problems! Hope that's some help.
A previous answer follows: Instead of anxiety, or worry, downgrade them to ';concerns';. See section 6, at ezy build, below. ';Worry is like a rocking chair - it gives you something to do, but won't get you anywhere.'; - Set yourself a specific time period for worrying about anything, (say; around three quarters of an hour, possibly when you get home, or after your evening meal, but not too close to bedtime) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to even entertain the thought of worrying again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. You will have had your ';worry time'; for the day, and can just write down any more thoughts that come to mind, and say to yourself: ';Well, I'll just have to worry about that tomorrow, won't I?';. Doctor Wayne Dwyer once said: ';Negative emotions are preceded by negative thoughts';. It is important to regularly monitor, and deal with a negative internal monologue (self talk), or mental process, such as disturbing thoughts, images, impulses, or emotions, by the process of (a): recognising it, and (b): challenging it immediately.

Technique For Re-Programming Negative Thoughts: When you notice something negative, such as: ';I'm never going to get over this!'; or: ';Why am I always so pathetic/useless/such a loser?'; or even: ';I can't do this/will never get over this!';, even an image, emotion, or a memory; recognise that this is being generated from the negative part of your mind. Having identified and labelled it, visualise a large, red, flashing, ';STOP!'; sign, and/or possibly a stern faced person wagging an index finger at you in a negative manner, then say to yourself as forcefully as you can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: ';I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!'; You may want to use either: ';ruse';, ';ploy';, ';game';, or ';trick';, instead of ';tactic';. In the case of an image, visualise a large ';STOP'; sign, or your preferred version. Some people go so far as to keep a wide rubber band in their pocket, then put it around their wrist, when they catch themselves backsliding, stretch and release it, as a method of reprogramming their mind sooner, but I don't regard it as being strictly necessary.

Remember to remove it, afterwards, if you use this method. Try replacing a negative thought with a positive affirmation of your choice, like: ';I am a unique individual, with my own set of skills, and good points';, or ';I may not be perfect, but I'm doing the best I can, right now';. Practice one of the relaxation methods in sections 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Alternatively, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: ';Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself.'; Neurofeedback treatment for anxiety is increasingly becoming available.

Herbal remedies, such as valerian, (which is not recommended for use if depression is also present) passionflower, or St.John's wort, are often effective, but the idea is (as with anxiolytic medication) to use them like water wings, or training wheels on a bicycle, providing initial support, and giving time for other treatments, such as therapy, and relaxation techniques, to take effect. Imagine, as vividly as you possibly can, that your concerns, anxieties, worries, fears, your self-recriminations, all the agonizing ';I'm-so-Stupids,'; and ';I'm-too-fats';; every painful ';I-can't-I-have-it'; or ';I-can't-do-it';are huge raging, hurtful bulls snorting and charging at you. You see them coming at you and you hold out your red matador's cape at arms length and simply let them charge right by.

Every time they come at you, hold out your arm with the red cape and let them rage and snort and go right on past. Warm lavender bubble bath.... then....

Try a warm cup of decaf tea (herbal) or warm milk

Read a comedic magazine or book - Erma Bombeck, Comic Strip, etc., just briefly when getting into bed. Then....

Focus on each toe... relax each toe individually in your mind, let it go completely limp, then go to your foot, ankle, calf, shin, knee, etc.

You convince your extremities to be very heavy and very limp and you will become relaxed enough to fall asleep before you hit your hips!!

Plus --- have your most boring friend/spouse recite a boring story on tape for you... The boringness in their voice will lull u to sleep...

Have you tried the cd's that are just ';nature sounds'; or ';sea'; sounds?? Those are SPECTACULAR... Also -- heat some cinnamon in boiling water for a few minutes before going to bed. (Make sure you shut off the stove!!!) That scent will calm you dramatically!!

Also, I take my fav picture of my grandchildren and stare at them and remember a very happy memory and their voices and hug the picture before closing my eyes. They stay with me and the happy memory eases me into dreamland.

Sorry some of these are out of order. Good night!!!
Yeah i am the same way sometimes too.

But instead of lying and thinking on the Bed waiting to get sleepy, I Spend my time reading stuff in front of my Pc.

Like what i do now untill i get sleepy so that way i won't have to think about what's Bothering me.
You should try downloading an ocean sounds CD like this one...

Maybe you are a night person and just ';come alive'; at night. Try taking a nap while it's still light. Sleep as long as you can.

  • I want to have a clear mind set for my skool work nd studies?

Make a time table and follow that.I want to have a clear mind set for my skool work nd studies?
The tip to make a plan and stick to it is a great one. You can access help from the career centre in your school and also from many websites you can google to find if you plunk in ';study tips';. The most time effective way to study though is to see it as part of your learning instead of an extra chore come test or exam time. Spend 15 minutes every night reviewing the new ideas you have learned that day. This way you are programming your long term memory instead of relying on you short term memory by studying at the last minute. This hyperactive disorganization leads to brain freezes during test times as your mind was not relaxed when you were feeding it information. So like a computer it will freeze when you overload it with panic striken commands.

    cheers and happy studies

How could i clear my mind of bad things?

there are some things tha i have in my head right now that always seem to come back and haunt me. these things make my day uncomfortable,so i need a way to forget them. How could i clear my mind of bad things?
    Check out www.stresscenter.com

I'm not sure what kind of thoughts you're having but if you're having thoughts that are scary to you it could be stress or panic. For example, say you see an oncoming car and you think ';what if I end up in their lane and we get into an accident'; and your brain just can't let that thought go, that could be a stress induced thought. The reason that you think like that is because you are so stressed that your brain comes up with the worst things it can think of so you avoid thinking or dealing with the real life stress you have.

If this sounds like you and you get into that situation DON'T RUN from the thought. Hit the thoughts head on. See it, acknowledge it, and then tell yourself, ';this is a thought and nothing more. it can't hurt me, it can't control me. it's just a thought.'; Think about it, what if I say whatever you do, DO NOT think of a purple elephant. What just popped into you mind, at least for a split second an image of a purple elephant came to mind. When you try to say DO NOT THINK THIS, it's the first thing that will come to you. Also, when you start having scary thoughts ask yourself what is really bothering you? Are you stressed about money? A relationship? Work? Try to find out what it is and come up with the best ways to remedy these situations. It takes a little practice but it does work! I PROMISE! I've used this same technique! All the best to you and I hope this helps a little! Do check out that site above they have a TON of great information on stress and panic management! It was a life saver to me!How could i clear my mind of bad things?
Go to your local mental health center (all counties have them). A psychologist can perform an evaluation and determine if you can benefit from medication and/or therapy.

Don't put it off. Time to get rid of those thoughts.
Get a bible,,seriously,,it really does the job.it'll renew your mind, start at John1;1.Do it now!
seek therapy and keep going...They aren't there to judge you. unbiased
the first answer is right but that is the wrong way to deal with them try to focus on positive thoughts and find something to occupy your time like for me i had depression and i used to cut so i had a lot of thoughts that i didn't like... such as suicide. But i deal with it and im getting better. What i did was instead of sitting when i was depressed i blasted music, ran outside heald a piece of ice in my hand and played bass guitar. So try doing something to occupy your time

    try yoga!!!
Actually I believe that trying to ';forget'; your thoughts which disturb you will not help. Maybe this isn't a popular answer? But it helped me a whole bunch. I went to a psychologist. (Mine also is a minister? But we never talk religion.) He is a PhD.D. in Psychology. We have been together for four years - actually a little more? - and I have grown up tremendously. I take more risks. We talk about my overwhelming emotions and he tries to help me think more clearly about my jumbled up ones. I get so antsy and anxious that I am avoiding things to do socially too so having him to talk to about them has brought me out of my shell and my house to do things with others. I know this may sound silly? But I would try getting someone you trust to talk to. Whomever that might be. Even a religious figure. Your parents. Your guidance counselor. A therapist. Your doctor. A relative. A friend. Do any of these suggestions seem helpful? I hope so!
    Here's how I did it:

    Learn to meditate

Learn about chakras and how to align them in your body

    This works.
I don't know if there is a way to forget.

The real people of the world, the same sad faces you see climbing into subway cars, walking down the street; getting lost in their laptops at an airport, these are people doing the same thing. They're trying to forget.

I think humanity is trying to forget everything all of the time and it's not working.

There's some of us in the world that deal. Some of us that come to understandings with ourselves, realizations that take forgiveness, courage, and determination. Failures are our only steps in a tower of enlightenment.

I don't think we should ever forget anything, not for a second. Grow from it, learn from it, and relish in it knowing that you've overcome it, worked through it, and are comfortable enough with your mistakes to realize that you can think about it without dwelling on it.

    Good luck.
try to find a solution to solve the problems....try to talk to someone about it ...it takes the burden....exercise helps too.
It's time to face them...if they're starting to occur more often, then it's time to work these ';things'; out. Your not alone on this journey, there are many others like you. There's also alot of very good people who can help you, all you need to do is find the right counselor, and let them in. Good luck, Pixie

in order to have a peace of heart you cannot be led by your emotions. Emotional decisions always seem to come back and bite us. Base your decisions on whats right or wrong, not on someones opinion

this might sound stupid, but when i have a cluttered mind, i clean out all the ';junk'; from cupboards, under beds, and anywhere i find it. it seems to clear my mind as well. How do you clear a cluttered mind?
take a notebook and write down what's in yr mind. just pen down anything that's bothering you. the shopping list for christmas, all the chores bothering you, all the worries about money, life, love and living.

then, tell yourself to stop the worrying for half an hour, go do the gardening, clean the tub, or walk the dog. Then read yr notes and you will probably be able to set some priorities at that time. When you have done so, you will have a plan of action, and therefor real peace of mind if you get a feeling you can DO it all.

    if not, prioritize some more!

    good luck!

ps: a real nice help during the half hour no worries? some loud music while scrubbing the tub, lol!
that is not how you get the peace of mind, any way change your cluttered mind with a religious one.I don't think we can get peace of mind in this life.I guess I'll have my peace of mind when I go to heaven.well, first I thought we get the peace of mind by satisfaction, but I realized it doesn't last that long.
When my mind is full of nonsense i shouldn't be thinking, i sit on a comfortable chair, lean back and tell myself, relax head , relax head , relax neck and working all the way down my body until i feel completely relaxed and i stay sitting for at least halve and hour. It works for me.

Is it really possible to clear the mind of everything (talking about meditation)?

I heard that people who meditate clear their mind of everything. I heard sometimes they concentrate on something....i think...i dunno. How do you meditate anyway? Is it really possible to clear the mind of everything (talking about meditation)?
Yes; the state of no mind is very real.

No Mind does not mean no thinking. The meditator has to think in order to feed themself, walk around, drive a car, etc.

the state of no mind means there is no thoughts arising from the subconscious mind. The person's mind is liks a calm still pool, and the only ripples disturbing the serene state is when conscious thought is necessary.

I posted a zen brochure that I wrote to teach Zen to newcomers. It is January 8th entry on my blog.Is it really possible to clear the mind of everything (talking about meditation)?
When I used to meditate I just slow down my thinking. Sometimes I have no thoughts, sometimes I have just one thought. I don't do it anymore though- I had a very scary experience. My mind was awake and I was thinking- slowly while meditating. Someone knocked on my door and I could not signal my body to move- couldn't even call out. I was stuck like that for 10 minutes and then I was able to start moving again. Found out I was in the meditative state for 3 hours- I thought it was only 30 min. I think I am going to ask that question...how to get out of it and maybe I will try again.
I meditate everyday! It's not a clear mind of everything. I usually concentrate on something beautiful %26amp; colorful. Meditation is to clear the negative thoughts out of your mind.
i am not shure how you meditate...
I have also heard this is possible for some people to reach a certain state during meditation when they are completely relaxed and free of thought. My yoga instructor used to talk about it, but I have yet to reach that state. You can really meditate anyway you want. Some people can sit, some feel more comfortable lying down. For me, the importance of meditation is for my mind to take a break from the stresses of daily life.
no. they can fill the mind with one big thought of some thing different.
This is good for beginners to try to clear and dicipline their minds. Breathe in for 5 beats (1mississsippi-2mississippi, etc..); then hold that breath for the next five beats; lastly exhale for the next five beats. Repeat this for about 3o minutes or so (set a timer cuz you will lose track of time). Also breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Good Luck!
Step 1. Put the gun to your temple....

    ........
relax until your heart stops beating and your rot. So what is the purpose of total meditation?
Meditating is not absolute absence of thought, but more concentration of thought. Meditating is done by focusing your thoughts into a single ';orb'; in your mind, relaxing your body, and letting yourself enter a new mental state
Well, I can't clear my mind of everything! It's like having a hamster in a runny wheel in your head. But my daughter claims she has done it. She's not a space cadet so evidently it's possible.

Wouldn't concentrating on something to clear your mind be like not thinking about jaguars?

Is it possible to clear your mind?

To where you are not thinking about anything at all?Is it possible to clear your mind?
This is the very essence of the technique called MEDITATION. It's harder to do than it seems. Try it. Go to a quiet room, comfortable chair or sit on the floor against a wall. Focus on your breath, in and out. Stop the voice in your head. No thoughts, no images, no memories. You can do it.

The hard part is sustaining the clear mind for more than a few seconds, because thoughts rush back in rather quickly. When thoughts return, quiet your brain again and start over. Don't get upset, just patiently keep requieting the brain.

The discipline or mental skill is what is taught as meditation. The goal is to keep the mind mostly clear for about 20 min. The benefit is mental rest. The feeling is one of being refreshed, as if you had a long nap. The effect is not BS. The brain actually does rest and is the equivalent of about 1-2 hours of sleep. Is it possible to clear your mind?
I suppose it's possible, but I can tell you that it's very difficult for some people to achieve. I don't think I'd ever want to completely clear my mind though; there's always something to think about. I'd rather concentrate on certain things and clear everything else out of my mind, if you know what I mean. That in itself is hard enough.
Yes, of course probably only to the conscious mind. Try reading books on meditation and find out. However, it's only temporary.
Yes and No. You have to sit and meditate, put on some slow soulful music, Nora Jones or something of the sort, sit down in a room where there is no interuption and preferably no one around you, close your eyes and just breath, don't think of any one thing, let the music play through, and while you focus on the sound of the music and the words of the song, listen to yourself breath, in and out, stop thinking of the music, now focus on the breaths coming out of your mouth and nose, keep breathing. So I guess the answer is more no than yes, because you will be focusing on breathing.
I suppose - I have not mastered it - share how if you do
yes but it takes lots of practice. one of the best ways if you want to, is meditating, but do not expect to clear your mind on the first try it takes time.

The trick is not clearing your mind, but rather having one thought or point of focus that you can continuously return to.

Breath is a great focus for meditation, because it is always there when you're ready.

The mind will move, thoughts will come and go. Whenever you notice that you are focussed on any thought, just gently return your attention to the breath. Just observe it moving in and out.

If you try to clear your mind you will simply frustrate yourself. ';I need to focus'; is also a distraction, a thought, gently return your attention to the breath (or your focus thought, mantra, or object).Tips on Meditation? How do you clear your mind?

From the book I have read, there are two things to follow, 1)try to sit in a lotus position or lay down flat in your back with your thumb and middle finger touching, 2) Just listen to your heart beat...feel drowsy? Then it is working.

    3) an additional tip... try vibrating your chest by humming the mmmnnnn..... then pause for a couple of minutes then hum it again...mmmmnnn.... listening to the effect it gives, will divert your focus into nothingness... and when your mind resonances...relax and listen to your heart beat. Feel the relaxing effect your heart gives in all your being.... peace!

Try some guided meditation CD's or tapes.
The best CD I've found so far is Wayne Dyer's Getting In The Gap. It helped me find that ';sweet spot'; quickly and consistently. You can find it on Amazon, Hay House, or order it through your local bookstore.
That is the hardest part for the beginner. I've been meditating for 10 years and I clear my mind simply by taking deep breaths in through the nose, out through the mouth.

If you are a beginner, I'd start out by taking a long, hot bath before meditating. That will usually relax you enough to begin. Once you catch on, being able to clear your mind won't be a problem.

Also, make sure there isn't going to be any kind of outside distraction. Turn off your phone, tv, ceiling fans.. anything that makes noise.
I make sure that I am alone and won't be interrupted. I make myself comfortable, but not so much that I will fall asleep. Then I slowly begin to notice my breathing and regulate it. You can also buy CDs that have soothing sounds on it that may help you.
Focus on the breath. Being conscious of all things at once is the aim. But. Start and End with the breath. They'll become one continuous awareness in time. Start with the breath. Don't break concentration from it. Eventually, you'll expand it from the breath, when you're in the focused rhythm, and you'll be able to feel every part of your body at once while still focusing on breath. Then you'll be able to hear everything around you even the smallest sounds you'd never have heard before. With this, in time, you'll be able to concentrate on your mental thoughts passing, your breath, your body, and the environment all around you. Hold that long enough in one sitting, and you'll begin to explore mental states. It'll be automatic from there.
    Desires create thoughts.

So long as you have desires, even the desire for no desires, there is thought.

When you realize desire is futile... there will be stillness.
The best way I find is to actually acknowledge the thoughts, give them their due, and then let them go.

The problem with ';Empty your mind'; is that we get preoccupied with doing it. It's a near impossible task. However, if we just acknowledge the thoughts runninng through our mind and then let them go one by one, the process to stilling yourself becomes easier.

    I hope that helps!

You want to know how to make a decision.

Organize your thoughts about the subject.

    1. Figure out exactly what you have to decide and in what order. Prioritize.

    2. For each decision list the possible consequence good and bad (pros and cons)

    3. Check and consider your list to figure out the most advantageous course of action.

If you are serious about writing a book, you must treat it like a job, because it is a job. Set specific hours for writing your book, take an hour for lunch, then get back to it and either write until 5:00 or until a chapter is done.

Get up in the morning an hour before your writing day begins, have your coffee or tea and breakfast.

Make ';to do'; lists so that you may quickly take care of personal business before sitting down to type.

The more focused you are on writing, the easier the thoughts will come. Other ideas for your book will come into your head--make a note of them and put them aside until you can assimilate them into your book. Let your answering machine take calls for you and return calls later or the next day. Don't get easily sidetracked--if your book becomes a best seller, there will be plenty of time to play and plan your next book.

Good luck and may God bless you.
    The quickest, easiest way...

Take deep breathes and count to 10.
try meditating. clear ur mind of any single thought. try thinking of paradise. once ur head is clear try writing. that always helps me if i got too much on my mind. kinda weird, but it works for me at least.
Well, stop for a moment and do some free writing before you go back to your book. Me I just stop for couple of days and them go back to the wrting once those thoughts are organized. Try to think just about what you are writin and the thoughts will slowly become less random in narure.
The creative process is not subject to timetables --unless you have a contract with a publisher--so go walking, go for a swim, or start writing down your random thoughts.

They may actually spur your writing or have some connection you cannot quite see to the story you are writing.
First, try taking your time and asking questions with good grammar and spelling (and don't cheat by using spellcheck). This is a fun little game I play every time I write anything. Next, go driving around, and do your best NOT to think about the book or any deadline you may have. Go places and have fun, then, when you're totally loose (no more stress), inspiration will hit you out of nowhere. At least, that's how it works for me. If inspiration doesn't hit you yet, get a notebook and a pencil, and do some stream of consciousness writing; that might get you're brain wired for writing so you'll have an easier time. Sorry if I didn't help.
Take a walk in nature. Let the things you see inspire you.

So then if you have a clear mind and shytan comes to Waswas... and there is nothing there, what then?

Do you understand what I am trying to say in these last three questions?

inshAllah ya rub Amin. If there is allot of things in someone's head gathering in worry and such, isn't that prime territory for shytan? So then if you have a clear mind and shytan comes to Waswas... and there is nothing there, what then?
Then shaitan can't get to you, and he'll move on to someone else. Or wait till you're weak again.

I think I understand lol. And yes, you're right. So then if you have a clear mind and shytan comes to Waswas... and there is nothing there, what then?
    ';So then if you have a clear mind and shytan comes to Waswas... and there is nothing there, what then?';

...are you implying that you should just give into the waswasa...because you have a clear mind...and there's nothing there except the waswasa? Because if thats the case...that right there is listening to the shaytan's waswasa...he's telling you to just follow what he's telling you to do, which is following his waswasa whatever it may be...

and if thats not what you mean, then no i dont understand you question. Actually I dont understand a lot of your questions...

  • How can I clear my mind?

I cant clear my mind, I mind of feel trapped, I have negative thought, its not like stress, or worrying, but I need some ways, to release everything. But can't talk to anyone, because my parents are divorced, I live with my father, and he has a girlfriend which he cares about, but he doesn't care about me. I don't have close friends. So I need some ways, like maybe, hot tab, something else. Help me.How can I clear my mind?
You can find something that can keep you occupied so you don't think about this like joining a sport, gym, ect. You can also write some of this stuff down that you are feeling to help you feel a sense of relief. Go to the gym and exercise. This will help you get rid of the energy you are getting negative thoughts from. Try to always think positive in every situation and rid yourself of all negative thoughts by just thinking about the good stuff in life. Try also doing something that can make you feel good like watching a movie or reading. Something that will bring you into a different state and feeling of peace. Listening to music is something I do that helps me clear my mind of the daily worries I have. And finally, if you want, taking naps sometimes can help you clear your mind and help you feel refreshed.

    Hope I helped!

:DHow can I clear my mind?
dang kid i feel for you. im sorry about your troubles.. idk i think you need to pick up a hobby or do something with your time that will help you make friends and forget about the at home issues. do something you enjoy to do.. basically you need to have fun. sports, working out, try something.
    Meditation. Honestly.

    Even my doctor recommends it.
    get a face book, seriously.
Limit ';worrying time'; to around 45 mns, daily, possibly when you get home, or after your evening meal, but not too close to bedtime) after which, resolve firmly to refuse to worry again on that day: realise and accept that to do otherwise would be counterproductive to your mental health, and enjoyment of life. You will have had your ';worry time'; for the day, and can just write down any more thoughts that come to mind, and say to yourself: ';Well, I'll just have to worry about that tomorrow, won't I?';. It's important to regularly monitor, and deal with a negative internal monologue (self talk), or mental process, such as disturbing thoughts, images, impulses, or emotions, by the process of (a): recognising it, and (b): challenging it immediately. Technique For Re-Programming Negative Thoughts: When you notice something negative, such as: ';I can't do this/ am never going to get over this!'; or: ';Why am I always so pathetic/useless/such a loser?'; or even an image, emotion, or a memory; recognise that it is being generated from the negative part of your mind. Having identified and labelled it, visualise a large, red, flashing, ';STOP!'; sign, and/or possibly a stern faced person wagging an index finger at you in a negative manner, then say to yourself as forcefully as you can, even aloud in a big voice, if alone: ';I know this tactic: GO AWAY FOR A WHILE !!!'; You may want to use either: ';ruse';, ';ploy';, ';game';, or ';trick';.

Practice one of the relaxation methods in sections 11, 2, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Tai Chi, or yoga suits others better. Give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is a version for use in public places, (you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples, but you would then be restricted to subvocalising: saying it to yourself in your mind). Section 53, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris refers: ';Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself.'; Or Google: ';neurofeedback; therapists'; Herbal remedies, such as chamomile, passionflower, or St. John's wort, are often effective, but the idea is (as with anxiolytic medication) to use them like water wings, or training wheels on a bicycle, providing initial support, and giving time for other treatments, such as therapy, and relaxation techniques, to take effect.

I find it very hard to meditate, Does anyone have any tips to help me clear my mind?

    Hello Society

One of the main principles is to not try to get rid of your thoughts, often called the Monkey Mind, but rather to obsearve thoughts as they arise.

It's too bad you don't mention what it is that distracts you... makes answering a little difficult.

For outside noises: if you don't have the benefit of living close to woods, mountains or a beach, try changing the hour. Late at night or early in the morning are usually quiet enough so that nothing disturbs you.

If stress is your problem, try relaxing your muscles before you meditate. This is a pretty good guide: http://www.coedu.usf.edu/zalaquett/Help_Screens/Relaxation.htm

Try not to meditate next to any electrical appliances. If you have no other choice, make sure to hide them (i.e. covering with a sheet) before you start.

Some people find it easier to concentrate with certain smells. Take a large bowl and place it in the middle of your room; fill it with boiling water and add 1-2 drops of an essential oil (Lavender or Geranium are usually recommended). Then breathe in the scent and concentrate on it.

Make yourself as comfortable as possible. If sitting makes you uncomfortable, try lying down at first.

If you can, get a small desktop fountain for the room in which you meditate. They're not terribly expensive and VERY calming, making it easier to concentrate.

Soft music can be very helpful. Listen to the sounds and let your mind drift with it.

Fill your mind with positive thoughts, messages and images. Concentrate on them rather than on emptying your mind entirely, which can take years of practice to accomplish.

Negative thoughts are to be avoided entirely. Never dwell on them and switch to a positive line of thinking as quickly as possible.

Most of all, try not to try. Meditation isn't a competitive sport and there's no need to feel bad if it doesn't work right away. Keep in mind, though, that meditation is just one aspect of a certain lifestyle, and so naturally it'll take longer to incorporate it into a different way of life.

Namast茅 :)I find it very hard to meditate, Does anyone have any tips to help me clear my mind?
First off, any state of relaxation is meditation. So even if you are just sitting there you are already meditating. However, one of the most difficult things to overcome is that stupid voice in your head that constantly chatters all day long. You must first realize that this voice is just ';noise'; and that it is not this sudden psychic insight that has occurred. Allow the voice to keep talking as paying it attention and telling it to go away just creates more noise. Instead, just let it be, Whatever thoughts or voices are in your head... just allow them to continue as you imagine the pink light or the water that surrounds you. Eventually, and through several times practice, all will get quiet. But your mind presently needs to clear this chatter away... but don't you do anything to calm this, it will just happen by allowing it to be and understanding that it is just Mind Noise. Good Luck and I hope that I made myself clear.
i find it helpful to concentrate on my breathing while imagining that i'm completely empty. with every inhalation, i think of white healing light entering me and start to fill me starting from my feet and going up. then I exhale and i imagine grey light filled with the things clogging my brain or the tiredness in my legs etc, being taken out by that breath. i do this slowly, imaging the parts of my body sytematically being filled by white light and cleared of grey light.

when i feel filled with the white light, i imagine it overflowing and covering me like a bubble. when i have that picture in my head, i turn my thought on what i want to meditate on.
find the place that you are most relaxed at and that is away from distractions, usually people find it easier to meditate in a natury area
I've found that it takes practice. I got better the more I practiced. Also, try different methods. What works for one person may not for another. Find whatever you're comfortable with.
Deep breathing exercises relieve the wandering of mind ,,, try yoga books,.

What Sorts Of Things Can I Do To Clear My Mind At Night?

I always have anxeity come night time, usually right before i go to bed, i dont know why. I get a raceing mind, whole body tightens up and all that, and sometimes it gets hard to breathe, i dont know whats wrong with me though, and once i do fall asleep after like 3 hours of trying, i always have dreams like car accidents or some stupid things like that, what sorta things can i do,eat or drink or anything really to prevent bad dreams or any dreams at all and just have a nice easy dream/sleep and dont get me wrong i actually am tired at night but cant fall asleep due to racing mind, anyone? Thanks!!!What Sorts Of Things Can I Do To Clear My Mind At Night?
Reading really helps my racing thoughts....it forces your attention on one topic, and usually makes you tired after awhile. Deep breathing works for some people, but I can't say I've ever had a lot of luck with it. You're supposed to breathe in through your nose, hold it, and breathe out through your mouth. Might be worth a try! Listening to soft, relaxing music is always good...try to really concentrate on it. Right before you fall asleep, tell yourself you are going to have good dreams. I know it sounds weird, but you can actually learn to control your dreams after awhile. As soon as you wake up, write down your dream in a notebook by your bed. The more you are ';in touch'; with them the more control you will have. Good luck! What Sorts Of Things Can I Do To Clear My Mind At Night?
The dumbest thing helps me fall asleep. I think about my dream house. Each room I invision in my mind what size, furniture, colors, I never get very far because I fall asleep.

Try something you like to think about. Maybe a dog that you own but has amazing abilities. Reading helps too. If you have been awake too long get up and have a glass of milk. Avoid caffeine after supper, Avoid naps during the day as this makes bedtime more difficult. Make your bed really comfy try getting one of those down matress pads. They feel like heaven. Do not worry about things before bed. Remember worrying never solved anything. Oh ya get off this computor. It is time for bed LOL
ive got the same problem and i have mood swings. im not sure what i have or what you have but you shoud try talking to a doctor, they might be able to give you something.
I totally agree with the first poster. Reading, for some reason, really helps me. Read something uplifting, peaceful, and positive. Some chamomile, scullcap, or valerian tea can also help relax you so that you can sleep well. Don't have TV in your room. Have your room clean and orderly. Know that all in the universe is as it should be, though we may not understand how or why. Learning to meditate can also help.
Write out whatever is on your mind. That helps me.

Is a clear mouth a clear mind?

Clear mouth means no swearing. Is a clear mouth a clear mind?
Nah. The way that I see it, it is just a word. If I am around someone who could be offended by it, I will honor their wishes and won't curse. But it doesn't really bother me unless it is out of hate. I must admit though, I curse alot more when I am angry, so maybe in some sense you are right. Of course, defining a ';clear mind'; is also difficult. A ';clear mind'; could me purity, a clear conscience, an empty mind, less stress, etc.Is a clear mouth a clear mind?
So when you say a clear mouth means no swearing i concur. So you are asking if you dont swear than you have a clear mind,a clear conscience.

Well i think that is a very smart saying and it could possably be true but i dont think so. Here is why i dont think a clear mouth is a clear mind.

Of course swearing is bad and should not be done, and yes if you dont swear sure ur mind must be clear of that! but its not clear of all the other bad sins or rules you break. So i think a clear mouth is like a 1 fourth of a clear mind, becasue we all curse, lie, make rumors, fight, break the law, there for our mind is not clear of everything, just swearing. That is what i think, Any more question feel free to email me!
kinda. but there are very smart people that swear, but its not really a good thing but it kinda helps people express their feelings and dont have to keep the feelng in so i think its healthy to swear but not good

How can I clear my mind?

I need to clear my mind from all of the stresses form school home etc. Please how does one clear their mind and focus on the things that they need to get done instead of procratinating. ThankyouHow can I clear my mind?
If you have to do something, and you know that it calls for a lot of your attention, cut off those things that are distracting you and focus on what you need to only.

Clearing your mind is easy. Know what is blocking you, and push those things aside, to think about only when you have to. Remember all thought comes from out of silence, worrying makes you forget this.

If you think things are getting to out of control, take some time for yourself where you can relax and soak in some clarity away from your busy life style, and your many thoughts. :)How can I clear my mind?
To clear the mind, I'd say have a relaxing night to yourself. But I would recommend this after you finish what you need done, or else you will never get it off your mind if you're like me.

For me, when I need to focus, I make a list of everything that needs to be done. I start with the easier taks, and mark it off when I'm done. I love the feeling of accomplishment when the entire list is gone, or even five things. It really helps, getting you organized especially if you love to feel accomplished.
I once heard of a something called Mental Judo - maybe there's something about it on the Net. The idea I remembered was that you close your eyes and you are a Judo Master - like the guy in Matrix - and you are alone in a big room.

Then one by one - or sometimes in groups - various thoughts come to you - like they want to attach themselves to you, and then they want to be ';thought'; by you. But as they approach you, you gently move them aside because you're the Judo expert.

Judo is unlike Karate in that Judo is often very peaceful. If a man hits at you with his fist, you don't hit him back or hit his arm - you simply put up your open hand and correct his blow slightly so that his fist misses you. No hurry - No scurry.

And this way, you can keep the thoughts you would think from being thought - does this make any sense? And for various periods of time, your mind can be ';empty';. This gives you a rest from all those thoughts and prepares you to think the things which you need to think.
stress is normal. procrastination is normal. people without stress and those who don't procrastinate are the freaks. they're incredibly advantaged freaks who will probably make six figures, mind you, but they're freaks nonetheless. try yoga or pilates if you feel like clearing out your mind. they may sound gay to you, but goddammit they work
Honestly, I'm in the same position, I know EXACTLY how you feel, life moves so fast and is so demanding.

I just lay back and listen to some music, trying to forget about what I need to do and simply ';mentally'; motivate myself to get the energy to get things done.
You could meditate. Deep breathing and thinking of happy things, things you like to do, lighting some inscents and some calming music helps too. Even laying down and having a nap could help. Or think of all the positive things that could come out of doing whatever you're supposed to be doing.
I used to have that problem too. Now, every morning, I write myself a list of things that I need to get done that day %26amp; refer to it often. I just check off things as they get done. It's easier because you don't have to remember everything off the top of your head.
Start writing a diary and record whatever is disturbing you. If you want to keep it from others, learn a shorthand such as Newrite or Handywrite!

Let the intrusive thoughts chirp in the background while you focus on your primary thought stream.

Don't try to suppress those thoughts. Let them exist, but treat them like elevator music. You know those thoughts are manifesting themselves but they can become background noise, rather than intrusive and unrelenting interference. How do i clear my mind completly and focus on one thing?
I know the answer and I will tell you, it's very simple and easy to understand.

First, you say that you want to clear your mind. When you say that, I know instantly that you're a very young person or you don't understand much what you're saying. ';clear my mind'? wrong, you must say in a more exact sentence, that is ';erase my memory';. Now do you understand? the phrase ';clear my mind'; is very dreamy and undefined. Whatever you say, first, you must think about the components of what you say. Don't use undefined phrase like '; clear my mind';. What the hell is CLEARING MY MIND?

Second, if you want to forget the matter you are stuck with, then the only thing you need is CONCENTRATING MORE AND MORE. Do you understand the word 'concentrate'? not? That's your problem. lol

Ways to meditate and clear the mind?

hii all. can u let me know some great ways to meditate and clear the mind and become relaxed? let me know. im looking for things i can do at home when i get overwhelmed or upset. GRACIAS!Ways to meditate and clear the mind?
I forget where I first saw it, but the meditation technique that works for me involves imagining glowqing spheres of light starting at your feet and slowly travelling up through your body until it comes out of your head. Start with red and work through the spectrum (ROY G BIV = red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet). I usually never make it all the way through, I've gotten my mind focused well before I do.

Also, check the link below:Ways to meditate and clear the mind?
You should try yoga or if you want to meditate alone, you should go in a quiet place and forget about all your worries and block out negative thoughts.
II find it easy to just focus on my breath. You can put music on but I find when I was first starting to meditate I would get distracted by the sound. Use a place you enjoy: the beach, a waterfall, under a great tree, a field, etc and stay there completely without thinking about everyday matters.
play a relaxing and/or classical music, something smooth and not fast and unorganised. then you just lie down on your bed(computer chair is for me though =)) and close your eyes and think about the things that made you overwhelmed or upset, in reference to the music.
true meditation is letting everything be as it is

meditation helps the mind let go --- accept what is, in other words

accepting starts with you, just as you are....

  • What are some good meditation techniques to practice to clear my mind?

I believe in the new age concept of the law of attraction. To get this to work I need to learn to master my thoughts. I tend to have a little anxiety. I want to eliminate the anxiety I have by filling my mind with positive affirmations. From what I have found out so far, the best way to clear my negative thoughts is with simple meditation. Can someone suggest some simple meditation techniques that are easy and will take only a few minutes each dayWhat are some good meditation techniques to practice to clear my mind?
Breathing techniques- breathing in and out very slowly with my eyes closed and visualization of a far away fantasy place- in a quiet, soft lit room with no distractions...that is how I meditate...sometimes I do it in bed at night, helps me relax...and if I have to, I can take myself to ';my place'; in the middle of the afternoon- if I am stressed enough! Meditation rocks- but it takes a while to master getting in the zone! What are some good meditation techniques to practice to clear my mind?
in yoga, we do a breathing technique during meditation where you alternating closing one nostril then the other with your hand. you cycle this seven times, then start over. it clears your mind extremely fast because you have to focus on which nostril comes next and what number you are on. also, it encourages deep breathing in order to get enough oxygen through only one hole!
If you only have a few minutes to spare each day, I don't imagine you'll have much success.
Focus on your breathing then imagine that theres this big bright light in front of you (with your eyes close). Dont get frustrated if the light is gone..thats because you loose your concentration. Just breath and try to get that light back again..keep staring at that light.. nothing is in your mind right now but just that light.. try 10-15 minutes first then add more time to it everyday.. good luck :D
    Meditate on Jesus.
Look at a fish tank and try to decipher the message in their swimming.

Chanting the Psalms from the Bible really helps too.

I also occasionally watch Woody Woodpecker with my son, that really helps clear my mind.

    HAHAHHAH. HUHUHUH.
Sit quietly and focus on your breathing. If another thought comes to mind, simply acknowledge its presence and return to thinking about your breathing as air flows into your lungs and your belly and chest move in and out.

You can also focus on what it is like to be sitting quietly: The temperature of the air, the way your knees feel when bent (and how the right knee feels different than the left knee), the tension in your neck, tongue, shoulders, etc., or the way such tension changes over time.

But doing this is not about the law of attraction. It's about living in the moment, and doing so even when meditation time is over. There's a Buddhist saying that you should try to meditate an hour each day. If you don't have an hour to devote to it, you should meditate 2 hours.

Think about Aaron Carter 24/7 like I do
close your eyes and count backwards from 100
I don't know anything about new age mumbo jumbo, the law of attraction, and such. But I do know something about clearing one's mind. It's called calm down and relax, set aside your worries for a while. We should all do this, and it has nothing to do with any new age philosophy. We all experience anxiety.

Find something to do to occupy your time. Music, TV, quiet time, a card game, stamp collecting, sex, a jigsaw puzzle, whatever it takes to get your mind off of life for a while.

I might suggest a fine cigar, a Sinatra album, and a glass of whiskey. I would do something beyond just sitting a certain way and chanting or holding beads. Invite friends over for wine and cheese.
There is no such thing as a ';clear mind'; unless it is unconcious. Meditation is either a busy mind chanting a worthless sound or staring into a mental image.. but. true meditation is pondering/muttering/repeating over and over a scripture, or Biblical phrase like ';Jesus is Lord'; and forcing an unruly mind to FOCUS upon the love or peace of God. THEN, and only then will you have an encounter with God. I have tried all ways and NOTHING gives you peace or freedom or understanding or truth but THE way of God's meditating.., or praying in the Holy Ghost and focusing ONLY on that! The only ';right'; way to take control away from your mind is to give it to the will of the Holy Spirit.
Hold a mala--prayer beads-- in your hand(s) and say a mantra, moving one bead on the mala over per mantra. A mantra can be anything from saying ';I will think positive'; to the most famous Buddhist mantra, ';Oh mani padme hum';. The mala allows focus and feeling the beads in your hands calms you.

One of the things you can do to help you relax is yoga. In yoga, there are special techniques that allow your tensions from your whole body and your mind to be relaxed. Buy a yoga video and just follow the demonstrations. Yoga is a very healthy way to relax. Not only does yoga relieves stress, but it also clears your mind too.

Another thing you can do is to get a fish aquarium. This is one of my ways and it's my favorite too. Have you ever been close to an aquarium before? If you haven't yet, try it! Aquariums also help you relax because of the sound of water flow and watching the fish swim by. Try it! I guarantee you'll feel a difference. Take care.
You could try to meditate. :)

there're plenty of different ways you can search on the internet, and youtube has some great relaxation music.
Yoga and meditation are your best bets.
meditation has a calming effect... listen soft music....... and the one thing I do is ... applying rose water all over my face during bedtime it also has calm and soothing effect.

Is there a term for an inability to clear one's mind resulting in insomnia?

I rarely get a good night of sleep. Usually about four hours per night, five if I am lucky. This is usually because seemingly random questions pop into my head while I am half awake and feel the need to research them. Is this a personality flaw, or a medical condition? If the later, what is it called? I am not looking to medicate this problem. I am just curious if there is a term I can research and understand it by.Is there a term for an inability to clear one's mind resulting in insomnia?

Thanks for choosing me as your best answer. You should talk to a Dr. Sleeping pill for a short term might be needed. Long term insomnia will result a lot more side effect than you think. Lost of patient, careless, lack of concconcentrationst of interest in daily life. Might recommend class.
