When I say ';stay away';, I mean live with his or her parents. How long would you let a husband/wife stay away to ';clear their mind'; before taking legal action?
i wouldn't give it over 3 months, by that time they should have either come back or moved on. they may say they are at their parents home, but usually that's not the case.How long would you let a husband/wife stay away to ';clear their mind'; before taking legal action?
6-8 weeks tops and if they do not have their act together then, i would seek cousel! but, all relationships have their ups and downs and i would have to say it truly depends on the situation at hand and how much they wanted to succeed in their marriage. best of luck to you and yours!

But in your question I say if you guys take like 3 months off and no effort happens then that person abandoned the relationship.
Going to jail would be different
I believe that in a divorce court situation, that is considered abandonment, which is not good.
