I am working on writing a book but things keep getting in the way. I can easily be desaturated and once some one interrupts me i find it hard to get back in to the grove. Got any hints on what i should do to get the book done?Any one have good hints about the best way to keep your mind clear and on task?
I know how you feel - the SAME thing in face happens to me. I go to school, have to do my homework, study and even do some small house chores and at the same time WRITE. Things get quite hard sometimes but I try my best to keep focus on my novel.
One of the first thing I do is to make a small time table (after making it, I stick it on my my wall) so that I don't get mixed up. After doing all my work, especially after studying I write away. I mostly write especially at night, when I have finished with everything.
Go, the first thing I would recommend you is to make a timetable for yourelf. Get focused and don't get distracted from other things. Keep a seperate time for your writing. A good idea would be to lock yourself into your room, switch off your cell phone and in a quiet environment, start writing. This always works. Clear your mind off everything.
And sometimes YOU may suffer from writers block. If that is the problem, just click on here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>Any one have good hints about the best way to keep your mind clear and on task?
As Hofferneck said, making a realistic timetable can help a lot. Of course, you have to allow the reasonable amount of time on the other things you have to do. Set a block of time of time just for writing, and let your family or whoever you live with know about this. Put a sign on your door or lock it, keep away from the phone and TV and if you like, put some inspirational music on to help you get into the mood. When you write, just WRITE! Don't worry if you spell words wrong, if it does make sense, or you wrote the same thing twice. And don't worry about being messy (also if you are hand writing, you have to be able to read it afterwards). Keep writing and writing until you finish your first draft, THEN go and edit. (Some writers prefer to edit after each chapter, but what I'm trying to say is don't worry when you're writing the draft.) If you can't think of anything to write, just write whatever comes into your mind. I hope this helps!
