How do you honestly clear your mind?

I tried meditating, but it didn't work. I tried writing my thoughts down but when I came down to it, I couldn't think of anything to write.

concentrate on the space inbetween each thought, let that expand and you will know silence. If you try to control your thoughts meditation wont work, your thoughts will come about even stronger. observe them, don't get wrapped up in your thoughts.





being attentive on the breathe deep inhales and deep exhales works well too.





Remember true meditation is not concentrating on anything. It's being attentive. The idea of meditation is to get outside of your thoughts.How do you honestly clear your mind?
1. Choose a target for your focus. The sound of a metronome, the smell of incense, or a pleasing picture are all popular choices. (If you need more ideas, here鈥檚 a list of things you can turn your attention to.)


2. Get into a comfortable position, and relax your body.


3. Turn your attention to your chosen target, and take in the sensation it provides. Focus on the sound, smell, sight, etc. and simply experience what it has to offer. The idea is not to think about it, but simply to experience it, being fully present in the moment.


4. If your internal voice starts to analyze it, or begins to rehash stressful situations of the day, worry about the future, make a list for grocery shopping, or anything else, gently turn your attention back to your chosen target and the sensation it provides. Let your mind stay quiet and clear.


5. If you find your mind engaging you and realize that you鈥檙e not being fully present with the sensations of your chosen target, don鈥檛 let your inner perfectionist beat you up for 鈥榙oing it wrong鈥? simply congratulate yourself for noticing, and return back to the present moment and the sensations it has to offer.


6. That鈥檚 it. It may sound a little strange or difficult to understand as you鈥檙e reading this, but as you practice this type of meditation, it will become easier and make more sense. The more you practice, the more benefits you will experience. Enjoy!
dont know what to tell ya! But you should doing something that is relaxing to you. For instance when i need to clear my mind i usually go and sit out back and just lay in the sun for a bit. I close my eyes and listen to all the sounds around me i dont think about anything i just relax. I also like to just take a walk. It helps clear my mind. and when nothing works i have a nice stiff drink to help relax myself!

IT IS SO AWESOME %26amp; SO RELAXING IT FEELS AS IF YOU TOOK A 4 HOUR NAP.

Meditation works if your in the right atmosphere.Perhaps that's why it didn't work.
Personally I find that when i have negative or distracting thoughts I need to get them off my chest. I tend to tell them to a friend or a family member. This isn't stupid, its just good to be able to confide in someone and let them share your worry.





For practical ways of clearing your mind I always either go for a long, brisk run or I listen to music. Thats just what I do, it might not help you.

You clearly aren't meditating in the right way if you want to clear your mind. Try different techniques to meditation until you find what works for you. Don't go for any religious crap tied to it, though, just use what works.
Read a really intersting book a lose yourself into it...:D
turn off you're computer, and anything that makes any sound...stay like that for 10 minutes.
have a nice hot bath n relax wand take deep breathes with music quietly in the background
you just have to keep busy at all times
go to the gym and sweat it out or go for a nice long drive
